What is the Seacrest difference? It is the magical blend of creativity and joy that empowers the school’s commitment to whole person development. After all, nothing matches that defining moment of discovery when conclusion confirms hypothesis or iambic pentameter touches the heart.

From Seacrest’s inception, these elements have emphasized the capacity for human potential. Borne out by brain-based research, society at large now realizes that the world will become a better place when scientists and business people embrace intellectual curiosity and lifelong learning.

This guiding principle has not only set the Pre K-12 school apart, it has defined the Seacrest community. Students, teachers and parents alike are energized by a passion for learning that is awarded with “credentials in creativity.”

Effective learning happens when teachers query, “How can we come up with a winning solution to this problem? Let’s think about this together.” This collaborative approach inspires the highest levels of creativity and joy, as demonstrated by the students’ successes with Odyssey of the Mind – or designing contracts to conserve energy in their classroom.

“When your ideas are consistently encouraged, you have the confidence to make positive differences in the world,” explains Dr. Lynne Powell, Head of School.

“We are surrounded by a caring community where joy comes from educating the whole person, where mistakes do not end your dreams,” adds Erin Duffy, Head of Upper School. “This intellectual joy exceeds happiness and prepares students for the real world.”

While recent reports indicate that the currency of success today and tomorrow is creativity, Dr. Powell notes that this has been Seacrest’s philosophy for more than 25 years.
