A perfectionist known for uncompromising care, James Manzanares, M.D., is a welcome addition to Naples’ medical community. An elite surgeon by training and skill, Dr. Manzanares has completed dual fellowships in Pediatric Orthopaedics at the Nemours Children’s Clinic, and Advanced Spine Reconstruction at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. “His arrival represents a new level of expertise and academic training for Southwest Florida,” says practice administrator Trevor Briedé. “Our goal is to create a center of excellence with a wonderful combination of caring, compassion and superb medical care.” Dr. Manzanares completed medical school and his residency at the Mayo Clinic, recognized as the top ranked orthopaedic surgery department in the country. He is board certified and a diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, as well as a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Dr. Manzanares’ practice incorporates his two areas of expertise. He brings the knowledge and skill from Johns Hopkins to Southwest Florida and specializes in surgical and non-surgical treatment of spine deformity and pain. He has advanced local technology by performing Collier County’s first disk replacement surgery. Dr. Manzanares also performs kyphoplasty, a procedure that uses a minimally invasive technique for stabilizing vertebral compression fractures, negating the need for more invasive stabilization, and treats pediatric patients with complex orthopaedic issues. Awarded numerous medals for exemplary service while in the United States Armed Forces in Iraq, Egypt and Germany, he now devotes his time to helping children and adults with spine deformity and pain. He illustrates his dedication to patient care in one poignant sentence: “I practice medicine with the philosophy that the needs of the patients come first.” |
